Maya calendar – Is This The End?

The Maya Calendar (Mayan) will be cycling to an end on December 21, 2012 just a few days away.

Is it the end of our days or is it simply the end of a cycle recorded in ancient times?

I am sure there are individuals set in panic mode for this date’s arrival, similar to the Y2K event in the year roll-over from the 1900’s to the 2000’s, but is it a major disaster in the making?

According to the Wiki article misinterpretation of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar is the basis for a popular belief that a cataclysm will take place on December 21, 2012.

From this author’s opinion, I am not sure this is a total world wipe out event. Planning for this event as the end of the world may not be a practical matter. Doing so would be like being a prisoner on death row and counting days to an execution. What would you prep for? Why make the effort of gathering goods and foods if it’s ending anyway? Who’s going to be around to make use of the supply anyhow if it’s coming to an end? Just some thoughts to ponder.

Go about business as usual. The true key to preparedness is to face disasters and  emergencies calmly, demonstrate a cool head in catastrophe and try to make our situation as normal as possible.

There is a cartoon out there that shows the calendar creator talking to his buddy about running out of room on the stone he carved said calendar on. The friend responds along the line of, “That’s going to mess people up!”

The point is, go through your routines as business as usual. Prepared mentally we can face this day without panic. Maybe try cleaning up some of your spiritual baggage and attempt to have a clear conscience upon this day’s arrival. Meditation and prayer costs only a little time. That’s probably the best area you can prepare for on this day’s arrival.

Perhaps this is the day that we finally become aware that we have a beautiful life and are grateful for the opportunity to do good and great things that will impact us in positive ways setting aside the anger, the wars, and the anguish that are experienced by so many here on earth. Maybe this is the day peace finally rules our planet?

Just some thoughts. Anyhow, I have some Christmas shopping to do and some decorating
